Katie Peterson is an artist and art educator, dedicated to strengthening community arts and empowering the next generation of creative thinkers.

She recently returned to the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains after eleven years on Maui. She specializes in graphite illustration and rendering, graphic design, ceramics, and metalworking. Much of her artwork is inspired by the natural world, specifically the native plant species of Hawai‘i. Her professional work has ranged from fine art curation and gallery management to marketing to curriculum development and integration. Through it all, she has served as an art educator for students ranging from preschool to adult in a myriad of demographics.

Inspired by her favorite tune to sing and strum, Katie named her business Shady Grove Creations in 2016. Her artwork can be found in galleries and shops on Maui, and in happy homes around the country. Requests for commissions, wholesale accounts, and private lessons are always welcomed.
